halloween, falling in some neighborhoods. this is video from millbrae last night. lawrence is track the storm. it's a good thing it's happening this morning rather than yesterday during the parade. >> i was in millbrae where you saw those shots last night so, you know, it's sad the kids were still out, there weren't as many but they were covered up. you couldn't see the costumes because it was raining. but some parts of the bay area did okay. the rain just now getting there. let's check your hi-def doppler and you can see some of that dragging in parts of the south bay as a slow-moving cold front is heading down into the san jose area. they stay dry for the better part of halloween but they are getting soaked. on the back side of the cold front we'll see a little bit of sunshine, partly cloudy skies into the afternoon but some drier weather as we head toward the latter part of the day. overlook the city of san francisco, showers out there, as well. temperatures in the 50s and

60s. looks like we have some warmer days ahead. in fact, maybe a return to 80s. wouldn't that be nice? >> it would be nice. especially after a rainy halloween night. here's a live look outside. we are dealing with slick conditions. we have accidents and flooding this morning. a live look at the golden gate bridge. just a lonely headlight towards doyle drive into san francisco. so no major delays. we are watching an accident just coming in from our chp reports. westbound 580 right approaching north first. so just a heads up, possibly blocking lanes. in the meantime drive time 14, 15 minutes through the altamont pass and heading towards the dublin interchange. more slick surfaces. this is out in the east bay, the nimitz, 880 in oakland. so you can see the headlights southbound toward oakland airport. one of our flooding reports southbound 101 right there by that 237 interchange may be blocking lanes. santa rosa police are trying to determine if rain was

a factor in an accident that injured two young trick or treaters about 7:30 last night at north dutton avenue and west 8th street. police say a 10-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl were in a crosswalk slightly ahead of their parents when they were struck by a northbound car. the driver did cooperate with police who say the kids' injuries don't appear to be life-threatening. four people wounded after a shooting outside a halloween party on the university of southern california campus. usc police say two people were detained shortly after the shooting, which happened just last night just before midnight. the four people injured were rushed to l.a. hospitals. no word on their conditions this morning. and not far from that shooting three people were injured in hollywood when shots were fired into a halloween crowd there. l.a. police say three people taken to hospitals one of them a 17- year-old is critically injured with gunshot wounds to the chest and the leg. at least three men have been arrested. oakland police are looking into the shooting death of a man at a cell phone store.

it happened about 7:00 last night at a metro pcs store and international boulevard. investigators believe it was connected to a robbery attempt but they are not releasing any information about the victim or any possible suspects. 4:33. now under arrest a man who smashed a muni bus window. san francisco police are crediting social media for the help and now there are two other guys the police would like to catch, as well. cbs 5 reporter anne makovec in san francisco with more. >> reporter: good morning. one suspect down two to go. police in san francisco are hoping that the public will help them once again find the people responsible for torching a muni bus. police trying to identify these two people who set the bus on fire sunday night by throwing things that were on fire into the bus. it was 12:30 a.m. on monday right after the big

giants celebration on market and 3rd street. now, this is cell phone video with pictures of the two arson suspects. police hope someone recognizes these two and turns them in. >> we will identify you, arrest you, prosecute you and you're going to pay for it. so don't go there. >> this vandalism suspect was identified this week as 22-year- old gregory tyler graniss. his picture was circulated on social media sites. it was shared 18,000 times. and this is his mugshot. he is facing felony charges of vandalism and injuring or destroying a passenger transit vehicle. people say it was the mob mentality that caused people to destroy so much property on sunday night. they hope to catch these guys through social media. live in san francisco, anne makovec, cbs 5. it was one for the record

[ chanting ] you. the city honored the world series champions san francisco giants with a parade and rally. >> congratulations, san francisco we couldn't have done it without you guys. >> there's one thing that hasn't been talked about enough and it was sacrifice. >> the giants were eager to thank their fans for their support. the team received a broom from the city as a symbol of course of their world series sweep of the tigers. so much fun out there. there were hundreds of people who almost missed the parade though even though they had prime locations on market street. they were east of where the parade started heading west when officials realized that, the players made u-turns so

>> we will follow up to make sure that you get all the help that you need until you rebuild. >> reporter: not far away, the search for trapped or missing people on staten island continues. nypd rescued six people from rooftops on wednesday. there are signs that life is returning to normal in new york city. all three airports are open as of today, as is the new york stock exchange and broadway shows. but problems still persist. traffic in the city is nothing short of a nightmare. without public transportation wednesday, manhattan streets were clogged with people trying to get back to work. subway and train service is starting up today on a limited basis and governor andrew cuomo has suspended fees through friday. >> i am declaring a transportation emergency. >> reporter: mayor bloomberg is mandating that all cars driving into manhattan have to at least have three people. >> i know it is inconvenience for a lot of people. but the bottom line is, the streets can only handle so much. >> reporter: officials estimate half of all gas stations in the

today he will stump for votes in virginia. nurses plan another 24-hour strike today at several bay area hospitals. cbs 5 reporter cate caugiran is in the newsroom to explain what's behind it. good morning, cate. >> reporter: good morning, michelle. the issue is the same as the past three strikes reduction in patient care and disputes over contract negotiations. nurses say they will be out picketing as early as 7 a.m. and rallies will start at 11 a.m. this strike will involve 3200 nurses and several hundred respiratory, x-ray and other technicians. it will affect 7 bay area sutter healthcare hospitals. yesterday, nurses spent time prepping for their signs for today. these nurses have been in contract negotiations for the past 18 months. they say hospital management repeatedly misrepresented them. >> you know, for the nurses it's going to be whatever it takes as long as it takes. there's no -- this isn't a game for the nurses. this is life and death. >> reporter: the series of strikes forced sutter to hire temporary staff on expensive

mexico was an epic failure. this one happened in yuma, arizona. the agency says two men inside the car ran back to mexico after their jeep got stuck at the top of a 14-foot fence. >> okay... how did they get up there in the first place is it. >> talk about being conspicuous? >> saw that. i thought it was a car commercial. >> i couldn't hear the audio behind it. i thought they were trying to sell a car. there was rain on the way into work today. >> a little slick out there this morning. still coming down pretty good in part of the south bay and sliding to the east bay. cold front working through the bay area overnight. and well, continues to do so this morning. it looks like it will take some time before it moves out. you can see hi-def doppler radar showing you all that moisture sliding now through the santa cruz mountains, san jose, also in toward the livermore valley and continuing into the sacramento valley. showers going to continue fairly light this morning. nothing really heavy early on. but it is going to make for a slick ride in if you are traveling this morning. so with that in mind, out the door plan on showers early on.

the temperatures fairly mild upper 50s even some low 60s 60s this morning. then this afternoon, still a slight chance of a shower or two but the clouds are going to part. we'll see a little sunshine and the temperatures up in the 60s and maybe some low 70s. so the cold front passing today there's another one off the coastline but high pressure is going to build in behind this system so that will bump that next one up to the pacific northwest and we'll dry out. today wet to start but by the afternoon we should mostly dry and that should be a trend that carries into the next couple of days. starting out with showers early on this moves through and by the middle of the day you see clearing. behind that partly cloudy skies and sunshine. and in the afternoon we should see some more drying maybe a couple of pop-up showers but the trend will be towards some drying weather not only this afternoon but as we head into the weekend too. plan on about 70 degrees in livermore today, about 68 in san jose, 65 degrees in san francisco. next couple of days, we go from the showers to an offshore wind over the weekend. if that happens as we head in toward sunday and monday a lot of temperatures up in the 70s

and 80s staying dry through at least the middle of next week, elizabeth. >> quite a rebounded. 80s again, okay, thanks, lawrence. let's take outside show you those slick conditions out there. this is a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza. you can see cars moving by just fine but the pavement will be wet. you're going to want to give yourself extra time, be extra careful. we have a couple of flooding reports already this morning and a couple of more minor fender-benders causing slight delays in some areas. so checking some other bridges here's a live look at the san mateo bridge. commute direction. westbound 92 off the high-rise looks good if you are heading towards hayward so both directions 14 minutes to make you that trip -- that trip between hayward and foster city. to our maps now this is where we're seeing flooding southbound lanes of 101 approaching pau, we often see it here around lucky drive in marin county you may find flooding blocking lanes approaching paul. through hospital curve chp says at least one lane is blocked due to standing water in the

road. this is the camera just south of there. so far things appear to be moving okay towards sfo if you have an early-morning flight. i mentioned that one other accident we were following westbound 580 approaching north livermore. it's clearing now. they are clearing these accidents pretty quickly. looks like that was just a minor problem. 14 minutes between the altamont pass and the dublin interchange. of course, mass transit is always a great option for kind of wet days like this. so far everything systemwide on time for bart, ace train number one, no issues. muni, caltrain and ferries also no delay. that is your traffic and weather together every 10 minutes. back to you guys. >> thank you. another massachusetts drug company is recalling all its products after federal inspectors said it must improve its sterility testing. the company, ameridose, has the same founders as the pharmacy linked to a deadly meningitis outbreak. an fda official says she cannot be specific about the problem at ameridose but the agency

knows of no infections linked to the recalled products. a colorado judge rejected a motion that would have allowed victims of the aurora movie theater massacre to look at sealed court documents. victims' attorneys were seeking access to court documents and 911 calls. the judge ruled that information could jeopardize james holmes's right to a fair trial. the 24-year-old is accused of opening fire and killing 12 people and injuring 58 back in july. he says he is grateful to be alive. that's the word from a california surfer who survived a brutal shark attack by punching the shark in the nose. scott stevens is recovering after surgery to close the 14" bite wound. the shark attacked him tuesday in humboldt bay up in northern california. this is what his board looked like after the attack. he said the animal grabbed him, pulled him under and shook him all around and then stevens fought back. >> opened my eyes under water and -- and punched shark on the side of the head a couple of

51% oppose proposition 34. the measure would end the death penalty in california making the maximum punishment life in prison without parole. 41% said they are in favor of prop 34. the poll also shows the tide has turned against prop 37 which would make companies label processed food with genetically modified organisms. 51% oppose it, 40% in support. the same poll in september showed prop 41 was leading. some close state contests may not be decided on tuesday night. half of registered voters will cast their ballots by mail. they take longer to count because election workers have to compare signatures on the ballot envelope to those on voter registration cards. we're less than a week away from the election. can you believe it? >> yeah. i'm ready. i think we're all ready. for one 14-year-old girl, it
